Eddy Merckx Strada 1992

HISTORY

Eddy Merckx Strada classic racing bicycle. first released in the mid-1980s, the Eddy Merckx Strada was designed with the same frame geometry of the Corsa Extra, the top-line model of Eddy Merckx bicycles.

After retiring from competitions, the great Champion Eddy Merckx started setting up a bicycle manufacture. Since he wanted to build the best road bikes possible, he managed to engage one of the best frame builders of all time to help him in designing the frames and teaching other frame builders.
With the same meticulous intent on the details, which he had shown during his racing career, Eddy Merckx started to build bicycles under his name. In 1979 he had Ugo de Rosa, 'the master' help him training his employees and setting up his manufacture in Belgium.
You also can easily see de Rosa's influence on the design of Eddy Merckx' bikes as far as his 1980s models are concerned.
Right from the start on, Eddy equipped professional teams with his machines and his bikes were loved for their unpretentious performance.
